Where it all Began
Unconventional fairytale is how I describe our love story. I say unconventional because how we met, through a mutual friend playing cupid, is not how most people meet. I also say fairytale because of how God orchestrated every step of our relationship so beautifully.
In July of 2023 I reluctantly agreed to a blind date. Unbeknownst to me, this date would change my life. I walked in and was met with a bouquet of flowers and a warm smile, these were the tell-signs that it would go well and it did. About a month later (3 weeks dating), Mangaliso had an epiphany on 26 Aug late at night. He had decided in his heart that he wanted to marry me. Not the proposal I had in my mind (which I got later on) but it was beautiful.
The following months were filled with meeting parents, planning for multiple celebrations and many other beautiful and momentous milestones.
We’re very quickly approaching the day we say I do and my heart continues to skip a beat when I see my soon to be husband. His devotion to God, kind and gentle nature and of course his infectious smile, are some of my favorite things about him. Our love story is my favorite story.
It all started with a question from a mutual friend, while paying them a visit, on a random Saturday.
“Friend, are you interested on going on a blind date with someone?”
My answer was an obvious “Yes, Mngani (friend) I am interested.”
Little did I know that this will be the start of a new chapter.
After a quick check-in on a text and a couple of questions, on what a perfect first date will look like, I was entrusted with the potential date’s phone number.
Later that evening we had our first phone call. I stated my intentions upfront.
“… The reason for this call is to ask you out on a date.”
Within a couple of weeks, I came to the realisation that I have found my wife. It was on a particular Saturday, when I saw her with make-up and in her evening event gown.
I had seen enough!
I went back home and did some number crunching sums, “How are we going to pull this off.”
And when I was ready, I sent a text to a close friend with the words:
“I am ready.”
